Rear discs stuck on

Hi all,

I came around to replace my rear discs and pads at the weekend, but struggled to get the discs off.
Assuming its related to the parking brake being stuck on.

I was able to wiggle the disc almost off, but even with continued tapping from a hammer, it still didnt move any further, and alomst felt like it kept springing back into place.

Is there an easy way to further slacken/loosen the parking brake, or could it be something else?

Disks tend to get stuck sometimes, have you removed the caliper and carrier and all thats holding you back is getting the disk off?

Yea - caliper, carrier, and holding bolt are all removed.

The disc moved away from the hub by about 1cm, then got stuck. Everytime I tried to pull it full off, it seemed to almost spring back on. Which is why I was assuming it was related to the parking brake being not fully dis-engaged.

Handbrake was off, but wondered if it could be loosened further, just incase that was the issue.

If its not, might just need to use some brut-force!

There should be a handbrake adjuster through the hub, you need to use a flat bladed scrwdriver to release.

Just in case anyone else needs to do this. I found the below instruction on the below link, which hopefully answers the question.

Will be giving it a go one evening this week - fingers crossed it works.

"If you lift the handbrake lever gator trim you will see a spring underneath the lever. With a long thin screw diver it is necessary to push this spring back so far that the 'hook' though the middle comes through the hole in the end and retains the spring in the compressed postion. You will see what I mean when you inspect the mechanism and you may have to back off the adjusters at the rear to do this. Leave the handbrake lever in the lowered position after this.

Only then is it possible to adjust the shoes at the rear. Adjust the barrel adjusters inside the disc at the rear, as you did, until the disc is unable to move. BMW repair instructions then that the barrel adjusters need to be knocked back 9 clicks but in my experience ive always found this a little excessive, so I usually go back 6 (or 7 if they bind a little too much).

Once the adjustment at the rear is carried out, with a screwdriver release the hook on the spirng under the lever. You must then firmly apply the handbrake 5 times"
