Rear coil spring recommendations

I bought 2 * 06248 and 2 * 06231 Suplex springs from autodoc for £160, shipping included. Got them after a week or so.
I fitted the rear springs along with the B4s I also bought and will shortly post my photo DIY, even though it's a dead easy job to do.
My main problem is -just like my most car DIYs- that I'm always missing the wrench/socket/tool etc that's essential..
I will take the front B4s tomorrow at a garage so they can place the suspension inside the springs as I can't justify buying a spring compressor (or should I??) and then install them.
Preciously my zed had crashy ap coilovers and was unbearable. I could barely fit one finger between the wheel arch and the tire and now I can fit 2; don't take that seriously though, cause fronts must be replaced as well for a safe comparison.

I've been looking at this in case mine go in the future, but here's what I find hard to justify...

I COULD just replace the rears for £120 or whatever it is these days for 2 springs, but a full set of Eibach springs is £140...

I think the Eibachs are slightly lower than standard m-tech though on the 3.0 - wouldn't want the Zed any lower than it is currently, it's already a pain in the ass over speedbumps etc.

The rear 06231's are really difficult to find at a reasonable price. Not so long ago they were around £35 each. Anywhere in stock they seem to be asking for £65 each :|

Well, this just gets better and better.

Springs should have been delivered today, that's being generous with the quoted '2 to 3 days' delivery time. Phone them up - no record of my order. Asked for my Ebay username a few times (I placed order on their website) to be told that they don't receive details of these web orders (yet - seems to be new).......!!! Chap then ordered from his supplier, should now be with me on Thursday. At least I 100% heard him order 06231's.... Sigh.

I also ordered a stand for my hard top from Ebay. Again, delivery date came and went so I sent them an email - their response was (they are based in Germany) that DPD could not find my address on their database, so refused to pick up the parcel for delivery.

This house is about 30 years old :?

Ha, that's nothing, my house was built in 1830, we have lived here since 1999 (last century :) ) and they still claim to not be able to find it!

Have you gone for one designed for the z4 or is it a universal type?

Exactly the same as my experience - this is a company called 'ECD' but they seem to go by several names, all with huge feedback scores.

This was just a universal type but as the Zed is quite small should be fine. I've ordered what looks to be a very similar item from 'UK Custom Covers', comes with strap but no cover (not bothered, I imagine the ECD cover would be worthless) for £80 rather than £60 for the ECD item.

Note the replacement I've bought was from Amazon, it is £10 more on Ebay and the UK custom cover website.

Apparently harder to find than unicorn tears, hen's teeth and needles in haystacks, I give you....

... a pair of Suplex 06231's :driving:

Happy to sell for £500 per side. PM for swiss bank details.

Ha Ha. That sounds cheap !

Just ordered a pair for £90, figures crossed they turn up and the order isn't cancelled.

From here

I know someone else said they got their order cancelled though. I've received a Posted notification so hopefully will turn up ok.

Sorry to bear bad news, but that's the one I ordered twice and both were not delivered :( :headbang:

(and yes, I got a posted notification for both orders with a tracking number, which could never actually be used)

As I mentioned though, they struggle with web orders - best to give them a ring.

Well my springs turned up today , no problems whatsoever.

Strange why they cancelled your order twice. I honestly didn’t expect to receive them.

Worth a shot for those after the rear springs

That makes no sense - temporary stock issues perhaps.

Great result, £10 cheaper than mine!

Fitted at the weekend - all straightforward but needed a decent lever bar.
