Rear bushes (trailing arm?)

Hi there,

Yesterday I had some new rear tyres fitted and a diagnostic alignment check to see if all was ship shape. I was informed and showed that my rear suspension bushes (think these are called trailing arm bushes) were allowing too much movement and metal to metal contact and advised replacement before any adjustments were made as this would affect the toe angles.

Is this a common issue, the car is going in for service work and warranty work next week so I have asked them if they will verify and replace them under warranty - 41k miles seems a little short lived and if they are consumable they should form part of the service schedule. If replaced I under warranty I have been advised that alignment is needed and I should push for this to e included in the job.

Any experiences or advice would be appreciated. I will post up the alignment check results later.

I had this done on my m3 a couple of years ago, caused the tyres to wear prematurely and a slightly loose feel at speed.

about £250 from recollection, I guess it is a consumerable as the argument would be they wear more or less depending on driving style as well as miles.
