Hi,
First post here, does anyone know where I can order a rear boot brake light (red).
Mine is cracked. I've done online searches but can only find American suppliers with extortionate shipping costs.
It's for a 2006 Z4 E85
Thanks
Marlon
mine is slightly coming out on the right hand side, if i pull it with my fingers it comes out more so ive pushed it back in... is there a way to access it from behind(inside the boot lid) to tighten up anything? or is this the symptoms of a broken light casing?
sorry for the thread hijack but saves me starting a new thread lol.
should be able to buy it from any BMW dealer - had mine replaced for £91 all in - you can save a few quid and do it yourself but it's very easy to overtighten and then you're back with a cracked light - if you get BMW to replace it you're covered for 12 months in case it cracks again - second hand ones do come up regularly on here . even cracked ones but for the sake of a few quid imo it's not worth messing about with - Sopers apparently do them by mail order if you really want to do it yourself - around £60 I think.
I ordered a new light direct from my local dealer and got 10% discount as a BMW club member.
when you change the light you need to replace all 3 springs (there is a upgrade kit from BMW) the original springs cause to much pressure and cause the cracking. The new spring kit comes with 3 spacer washers and a 3 new springs
I will see if I still have the part number for you today when I am in the garage ... the upgrade kit was developed by BMW to stop the cracking
and you must not tighten the nuts up all the way, there is a torque setting for the 3 mounting nuts .. the new springs have less Nm pressure at least half of the originals
