Rear 4” Speaker Signal

I’ve tried researching this but can’t find a conclusive post, just a lot of conjecture.

Can anyone confirm whether the rear speakers on a standard 6 speaker set up receive a ‘Full Range’ signal or is it a partial frequency of some sort?

If so, what range does the signal cover?

They receive full range. I’m not sure if there are any capacitors local to the speakers themselves but certainly full range is present on the wiring.

Awesome- thank you.

I’m going to try to amplify the rear Output with a cut-off to power a small sub while upgrading the front speakers. I think I’ve read that this may have some quality issues but will just suck it and see.

If I do - I’ll get the head unit (CD54) sent off to carphonics to have proper pre-outs added to clean up the sound.

Yeh, I cut the wire to the rear speakers (accessed by lifting the carpet trim) and fed them directly to am amp in the boot via high level in. This has the advantage in that is also automatically turns the amp on when it detects an audio signal (so no remote on required). Then I fed the amplified signal to some speakers that I added in place of the rear cubbies. I was pretty happy with the oem sound at the front to be honest but the rear was dire!
