Really starting to miss my Z4MR!

I put my Z4M into storage at my friend's garage over winter. It's a nice garage, tyres are pumped up hard, battery is connected to the CTEK.

I wouldn't usually, but there were a couple of factors that made me do it.

1. I had just bought a Porsche Boxster S (981) and I thought it was a bit silly to have two 2 seater roadsters on the road over winter.
2. The tax was due end of November and I didn't fancy paying £535 on the run up to Christmas!
3. Some idiot scraped the passenger side door in a car park and drove off, so I thought I'd have the door repainted and tidy up the front bumper too, but I was a bit skint after buying the Porsche and I didn't want to drive it around looking damaged!!
4. I didn't want to leave it outside over winter and my friend's garage isn't on my doorstep, so it wouldn't get much use over winter anyway.

I'm also away on holiday at the end of March, so not much point in putting it on the road then either. So looks like I'll get it taxed beginning of April and enjoy the summer in it, alongside the Porsche.

I am really missing it though! I really fancy a drive out in it. I'm going to ring up the paint shop and get it booked in, so it's ready in time for spring. This winter really is dragging on!!!

Maybe get to some meets and events in it this year :driving:

I feel your pain Sir! Although mines only a lowly 3.0i I have the same predicament, not bought a Porsche but a 325ci track/drift toy, and didn't want 3 cars all taxed (Especially @ over £300 a year!) so mines sorned at the moment, and cant wait to get it back out in march like you, at least you'll appreciate it more then!

I've always liked the colour of your car Dan.

Mine is still on the road but have only driven it twice in the last two months, trying to keep the salt off it. Only another month to go before the brighter weather and for you less than two before you can use yours.

Thanks. It is a nice colour, just needs the bit of paint doing and a good detail and it will be looking awesome again!

Yeah, not too long now. I'll definitely appreciate having it back. It is a cool car.

I’ve not been using the Porsche much either. I had the entire front end, bonnet and side skirts repainted by Porsche to rectify the stone chips, so I don’t want it to get plastered with salt either! I’m not overly precious with either of them, (hence never having a car SORN over winter before) but I do try to keep them nice.

Mine is leaving the fleet tomorrow to another forum member. I had some last minute tinkering on it at a garage and the owner told me what a fool I am for letting it go..........:-(

Last drive home just now and the sun was out and the car was running like a dream. I'll probably regret this!

It is a great colour

Very cool you have the option of two fantastic cars

Buying a new daily hasnt stopped the urge for another Z4M :headbang:

Zed looks awesome Dan
I don't know how you've done it I havent driven mine for nearly two weeks and its driving me mad
Looking forward to meeting over the summer and some pics around the forest

Similar to myself Dan. I have sorned all ours until March / April. Not going to get chance to drive them for one reason and another.

The 981 makes some lovely noises but the S54 really is the king for me. I can't believe you have put that extention lead on the roof of the car.... :poke:

H.

They are addictive aren’t they Dan, I couldn’t sorn mine over winter, just can’t do it! If salt is down it doesn’t go out but otherwise a run every week has to happen! :driving:

Oh the pain of having the Zed tucked up snug and cosy in the garage, not driven her since Sunday. :P

Enjoy your Porker a bit longer.

From the header I thought you had sold it OP. :o

But you're just letting it have a rest tucked up nice and safe!

Hopefully you'll enjoy it even more when April comes around. :driving:

Haha! It's sitting on a little mat now. Just for the CTEK!

I've barely driven the Porsche either. Stayed with my parents over Christmas, then worked the London Boat Show and a couple of weekend in January, then went away for a long weekend for a wedding, so the Porsche has barely moved in weeks!

I do have two fantastic cars. I was supposed to sell the Z4M after buying the Porsche, but I didn't! Or couldn't. Thankfully it's cheap to borrow money (or free) if you know how! Meant I got to keep the Z4M with some planning.

I just started thinking about it today. Started really missing it. I'm getting fed up with this cold and dark weather, bring on the spring!! 8)

Haha! Yes, it's tucked up in the warm and dry! I've still used it more than the previous owners had done though.

I don't think I'll ever sell! Well, I might consider if/when they hit £50k!

It's a very nice colour indeed,Dan

There are some great colours out there.
Yours, the Sepang bronzes, etc, etc and The Midnight Blue M Coupes, such as Original guvnor has

Thanks. Yes, I do like it. It's quite understated. I didn't particularly search out this colour, I bought the car because it was such a low mileage and pristine car and someone I knew on Pistonheads was selling it locally. When I bought it, the car had never seen rain!

Unfortunately between the time I sold it in 2012 and bought it back last year, it had been stored under a cover and was barely used, so it does now need some TLC to get it back to its former glory. Once I've got the door and front painted, I'll get it all detailed to get rid of the swirls and scratches from the cover to bring it back to how it should be. May get it ceramic coated.

There are some particularly nice colours, midnight blue is stunning and Sepang Bronze is just lovely!
