Realistic asking price?

Hi everyone,

I currently own a e85 54 plate 3 litre manual in great condition with 50k miles on the clock and FSH (All with main dealer, except the last one with an independent specialist). I'm looking to upgrade but wondering what its worth? BMW have offered me daft money as you'd expect so I'm looking for a realistic private sale price. I'm the second owner. Extras include heated seats, 6CD changer, PDC and wind deflector.
Thanks in advance for your advice.

May take time to find the right buyer but you should aim for £6k give or take 10%
Around £7k sees the 3,0 Si 2006 creeping in although not with 50k on

I'd say £6000 and be firm with that price.

I paid £6500 for mine 4 years ago and that was an 03 with 60k on.

That sounds about right to me too. Thanks for your message. The stealers were a ways under that but you can guarantee they'd be asking at least 7k for it.

Dealers are a joke - I've managed to avoid them for quite a few years - I too have a 2004 3.0SE with under 30k miles , FSH ( all BMW except for last oil service ) it is stunning original condition and a good spec but I wouldn't even consider part ex at a dealer - they compliment your car and then give a whole list of reasons why they can only offer you so much - then then produce a book to show your car is really worth bugger' all - if you fall for it your P&J gets put on the forecourt for at least £1500 mark up ( the usual ) or more - another good wheeze is to have a new or nearly new model on offer - but then say they can only give you trade on yours as they are are on such a low profit margin - what's the point then in having on offer :x Then you'll be told how much they will have to spend to get it on the forecourt ie a complete detail even though if yours is like mine it won't need it - a 99 point check which again is rubbish - how many cars have you bought that was supposed to have gone through such a check and then you find faults that should have been identified !and if anything other than BMW ( which will be at optimun cost ) a warranty not worth the paper it's printed on !

Any way rant over and back to your car - as a guide I would put your details on WBAC and add another £1500 to get to a forecourt price then decide what price you are comfortable with - I put my details on their website recently and they came up with £5350 - bearing in mind mine is exceptionally low mileage it's the same year and model as yours so I would have thought you ought to be pitching it at around £6500 and see where you go from there - you will have to contend with the timewasters and tyrekickers that delight in telling you that it's way overpriced and really you should be selling it for 3/6d ( that's a bit sarcastic so lets say £4500 ) - tell them to go and find a similar car in condition and mileage and buy it - they won't find one !

Always remember though that a car is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it though you do have the right model and mileage and with patience you may well sell it near the top end to a discerning buyer.

Good Luck

£6k+ sounds like strong money to me for a '54 plate, without sports seats, xenon, upgraded audio, sat nav or any other desirable options (unless you didn't list them)
Low mileage is of course a plus.

As above though it's what somenoe will pay, so advertise at a good price and be ready to bargain or wait for the weather to turn ...

Nice low miles, FSH main dealer (except last one) 3.0 Manual, 2 owners. Coming into the right soft top season - I'd try for 6k. What colour is it? Would be nice to see a pic.

Hi,
I'm currenlty looking for a Z4 and would be interested in some pics if possible. I appreciate you're only after a valuation for now though.

Apologies for the delay, I'm literally in the desert here.

These are the only pictures I have of the car with me. They were taken a few years ago but the car is in the same condition. No accidents, no damage etc, just a few more miles on the clock and the whip style antenna has been replaced by a stubby.

Any other questions, let me know.

Ha ha, no not at all. I'm genuinely just wondering what it's worth. I'm looking at upgrading but only if the right car comes along at the right spec etc. I'm happy to keep the car until that happens.
