I have a 3.0i that gets horrible MPG compared to you all. I think it has something to do with my foot jammed on the pedal. I have never actually measured my MPG by calculation at fillup. I have looked at the computer estimate and it isn't too good. If I want MPG I drive my miserable boring Honda (my commuter). I am surprized by how high MPG some of you are getting - WOW

Same here.....95% of my driving is my daily commute which is 50/50 Town & "A" Roads, never going much above 40mph. I've never done a calculation but the computer always shows round 24mpg. :(
On a 250 mile motorway run I got 38mph. :D

Don't forget your us gallons are smaller than our uk gallons, that could explain why our cars seem more economical :driving:

My 2.5SE Mixed driving 36mpg, best tank 42mpg, worst tank 32.

My mates Peugeot 1007 auto granny annex is giving him 32 mpg!!!!!

Remember you have two more cylinder to feed so you can expect a third more petrol to be used. I agree with the post above - you're likely to use the Zed and then the running costs rise. Also tyres are more expensive as is servicing.

Have you considered a 2.0 litre?

:driving:

Ive been looking for a coupe for a while now (hopefully buying one tomorrow). They're the most economical car in its class (the z4 in general) I want something fun to drive as I have some lovely B roads around me but I need it to be relatively economical as I'll be driving it to work. You compare it to the 359z, porche, s2000 etc its just as fun, there are differences but its a well built car and the engines are well made. Reliable, fun to drive but very practical. Had a 3 series before and that was great. Go with the heart
