Real OEM - part shown as ended?

Guys

Just wondering as won't be able to call BMW parts till the morning. If a part is shown as ended on Real OEM what does this mean with regard to being able to obtain the part in question?

Just taken my front bumper off and behind where the bumper lies on each side is what the site refers too as Cover, bottom left/right 51717012725 / 6



Part 6 above - hopefully BMW will still be able to get this - or does ended mean no longer obtainable through BMW?

States 'production discontinued' on the other parts website.... http://bmwfans.info/parts/catalog/51717012725/. Worth trying the dealers to see if BMW UK still have this in stock or available from BMW Germany. Not always the case that where parts are shown as 'discontuniued/no longer in production' that some still sit in the parts bin.

I think you 'll find it just means it's superceded by a newer part number.

BMW will keep and supply all parts for UK cars under EU law for something like 15 years after production ends.

Yes they have been superceeded by another part number. Unfortunately these bits of platic cost £84 plus vat!

Seems to be the case! To be honest after recently purchasing a new jacking point, a headlamp cover to hopefully fix the dreaded condensation and a new arch lining cover for the headlamp access all for £25 inc VAT after expecting BMW to want more for those 'pieces of plastic' than they did I was hoping the same would be the case here!

But never mind might leave it a bit longer till I can justify it - just ideal while the bumper was off.

Perhaps BMW are just real smart and know this sort of bit is only ever needed after an accident and therefore can charge what they like as repairers just pass it on ???
