Real MPG for 20i & 28i

So I put in 50.21 litres and did 318 miles, compared to last time which was 309 miles for 50.4 litres, so my mpg this time went up from 27.9 to 28.8.

Wow! :x

Last tank was BP Ultimate, but today I put normal BP unleaded in.

I filled up yesterday and it said circa 450 miles to the tank :?

You must have a heavy right foot Kevin :poke:

I am over 20 stone, so, literally speaking, my right foot is very heavy! :D

However, I wouldn't say I'm heavy with the throttle, I think it's the short journeys.

Do you do long runs? Most of mine seem to be just a few miles recently!

Spotted this from the Mercedes forum

I'm up for a 500 mile round trip this week, first long z4 trip. Will be interesting to see mpg!

In gettig around 170 per half tank, sitting at 29.9 ATM lol

In the first bit of my tank which is all my work driving I am now getting 25.9MPG. A step in the right direction. I think will average out to about 25MPG and I might get better MPG as I am moving to an area where apart from the first 300 metres the roads are only on slight inclines.

If I hit 31MPG I will be happy. :driving:

With my own records of fuel consumption I haven't noticed any real effect of any significance.

Regression Equation

calculated miles/gallon = 25.1976 + 0.157985 Average MpH

Coefficients

Term Coef SE Coef T P
Constant 25.1976 1.68206 14.9802 0.000
Average MpH 0.1580 0.04045 3.9058 0.001
Garage nor RON rating seem to show up as significant.
Interestingly Average mph shows a positive effect, the quadratic doesnt. Couldnt really find any interactions in the data either.

Well it makes sense, average mph goes up with longer less interrupted journeys.

The only problem with it I your sig is that it updates every post you've ever made so there's no record of progression?

I'm still hovering around 29.9 / 30mpg

460 miles in last 3 days, mostly a roads through mid Wales, about 100 miles motorway / dual carridgways and 20 miles ( but about an hour in bad traffic) city driving. Computer reports 40.6 mpg. Haven't done manual check but last tankful was 36.6 on computer and 36.3 calculated so probably quite accurate

Overall quite happy :)

I've been taking note of the consumption of my 20i since the last fill up, about half a tank so far - 50% with the roof down - 75% on A roads - 25% through town - not quite "Driving like Miss Daisy" but taking it easy and rapid acceleration to a minimum - figures as follows:

1864miles 35miles since fill up 42.8mpg

1902 miles - 72.7 miles since fill up - estimated 440 miles - (overall estimated miles 512.7) - average 39.4 mph - 42.8 mpg

1944 miles - 114.6 miles since fill up - estimated 399 miles -(overall estimated miles 513.6) - average 39.4 mph - 42.8 mpg

2077 miles - 247.7 miles since fill up - estimated 241 miles - (overall estimated miles 488.7) - average 38.0 mph - 42.1 mpg

Primarily posted to hopefully give heart to fellow 20i owners that as previously posted mpg will get better as the engine loosens up

Driving Miss Daisy: 35mpg

Sport / + mode: lucky to break 30.

If it's speed and mpg your after... try the vw golf, my old 2.0gt tdi chipped golf was lightning and returned 50mpg no matter how hard it was driven.

Since the switch though...I have not been disappointed.

My daily commute to work is roughly 150 miles round trip. I certainly will not drive this car every day, but I know that I will drive it very often.

I figure I'll be lucky to get 20 MPG (US) but if I were looking for something higher I would have purchased a Toyota Prius.

I wanted a sports car, so I ordered the E89. However, with the kind of gas mileage yall are seeing on the N20 I'm begining to think that maybe I should have gone that route instead of the N54.

Now that's given me a great idea... All the reports on here are mpg figures only. I think further reporting should be both reported mpg and also avg speed. This would certainly tie together the fuel to driving type in a better way.

I don't think I've ever seen over 24mph on my avg speed, hence the poor mpg also.

Good idea Maniac. I'll start resetting the avg. speed along with the consumption.

The semi-integrated nav supports Garmin eco-route. We don't usually drive with the nav attached, but it might be interesting to see what Mr. Garmin says .

I could get the OBD-II port dongle. Eco-route does a lot more if it has the dongle. http://gbr.garmin.com/ecoroute-hd/how-it-works/how_ecoroute_hd_works.html

It isn't exactly at the top of my want list though.
