Real Fireplace

You can't beat a woodburner.........just ask a certain cat

I had a real fire and took it out and put the wood burner in. Trouble with a real fire is you lose 70% of the heat up the chimney whilst with a woodburner it is only 30% lost up the flue.

Had a wood burner at our old house & they do seem to use less wood than our current open fire, but a open fire is very rewarding & it does make the room feel cosy :)
 
When I get back ill post a pic of mine..... It's a whopper of an open fire, I have gas pokers installed to light it ;-)
Lazy but so easy :-/

i have a brick fireplace in my house., which i have never used.

The gf thinks it will be quite nice to light up one evening.... stupid question, can i just go to b&q and get some wood to burn in it; with maybe some bbq lighter blocks?

Will it stink my house up and make it all sooty?

Clean the chimney or ensure its clear.

Buy a hearth??, the metal thing you place the logs on so that air flows below. (is that the hearth?)

I have got that and the back plate spare now if anyone needs a set.
 
Would need to collect though as it is solid metal and weighs an absolute ton!
