SWMBO gives approval, so the hunt is well and truly on :trampoline:

After some thought have decided that 4 seats are actually a must as having a toddler would mean the car wouldn't get that much use. So zed is off the table :( . Have racked my brains as to what would be a good option, most 4 seat convertibles are pretty ugly so had given up the chase...... until I found a........

Fiat 500C Abarth, well spec'd and with 160bhp on a small light body, it's a real pocket rocket.

Plan scuppered , dreams shattered
Abarth may be a pocket rocket but would it make you smile every Friday knowing it was coming out of the garage for the weekend ?
Would a 650 vert not work some magic for you ? Very few sub £20k cars will match these for noise & they have epic torque, supreme comfort & all the toys  only covering 2k a year so fuel not a killer either

I know what you mean Mr W, and probably not but it's a compromise, I guess that's what being married is all about. I will get back there, just have to wait a bit longer. In the mean time I hope the Abrath brings some smiles :D
It is the Abrath 595, so plenty of poke and should be good for residual values.

My wife does not know how to spell 'compromise'. Doesn't believe it's a real word. She does however understand 'sorry' as long as I repeat it often and using slightly different phrasing for a few months.

The Abarth is hardly practical - have you seen the size of the rear seats and the boot ??? Oh, and are you near a dealer ? PVR has to travel from Gatwick to Maidstone to have his serviced....

The need is to have a seat somewhere for the little one, not ideal but hey ho. I have a good independent and a main dealer within 10 miles

Yeah, fair point. Wee Bing was 11 when I got my second Z, only 7 when I got my first that I had for a year. By that age we didn't all go together everywhere so much, and I used it as a daily anyway. When much younger it would have been a lot harder.

Nah, they're fine with babies, the carrycot fits nice and snugly in the boot.... or so I've been told

Fiat 500 FFS....

I know but it's the only 4 seat soft top that even remotely interested me

Very nice - cool colour combo, had a look at these a while back for a dd, the sliding canvas top is very practical, though you need to get aftermarket kit install for heated seats, and the steering wheel doesn't adjust for reach but you can get a steering hub extension I think if you need it.

:driving:

The Alpina is a good shout to get //M performance at 3.0 costs, but a high probability is that it will be black. A colour not on your list.
However, I will look forward to welcoming you to the exclusive club of an F11 and an Alpina... A great combination.

I just need to update my photo with the newer Zed.

So, after much back and forth I have today secured a replacement. In keeping with tradition time to guess what it is.......

So you didnt get a 500 ?

:happyclap: :happyclap:

No decided it was a compromise too far. So got an SLK 320, very different to the Z4. The zed is a sports car, the SLK is more of a tourer.
