Re Z4 forum

I just wanted to comment that I think this is one of the best forums out there. Always great info, very helpful members. It's just great. I belong to a few car related forums of which some are comparable but mostly not. My particular favourite comment is when someone asks to Id a part and some joker comes back with a god damn Flux Capacitor. That really makes my p155 boil.

The truth is you are likely to find more expertise and experience on this Forum from quite a few members like enuff zed and bigwinn to name but two than you will in the commercial sector.

Thank you.
Simple feedback but means a lot to the people who try to help.

And to those of us that no nothing about cars. But understand Time Travel. :D

It can also be a good laugh, unlike almost EVERY other car forum I have ever experienced over 35 years of the internet. There are two other BMW dedicated forums I am a member of; one is as dull as a wet Sunday in Cleethorpes, and the other can be VERY aggressive at times (although it does make it quite entertaining sometimes).

This forum has the balance right IMHO.

People make a forum, and most of the people on here have a very helpful persona. There are some that go above and beyond, just to help. To me, that's a pretty rare trait, and something that needs to be commended and applauded. Its always good to read/write humour, sarcasm and banter, just as much as it is to offer my 2p's worth to a topic. This forum offers both as Pondrew rightly says.

The Alfaowner forum was good when i had my 156, 147 and finally the MiTo (which killed my enjoyment of Alfas :-) ) The Ford Owner's forum was rubbish when i had my Focus.
This one is great!

I would have to agree Pondrew is one of the biggest sources of entertainment on this Forum. He never fails to deliver. :D :D :)

Yes a great forum with very helpful folk and lots of good humour. As has been said, it’s definitely increased my enjoyment of my Z4. When we bought our Focus CC nine years ago I joined the CC forum and they were a nice bunch but they all slowly went over to face book. I hope this doesn’t happen here, that would be very sad. May this forum “Live long and prosper” for a very long time.

Flip me that’s dull… I’ve been!

It still keeps the original feel from back in the day which is nice. Proper family orientation and although anonymous on the web most of the original members knew each other personally.

There are a few that seem to take over and some of the posts from the same members over and over annoy me, same crack and it gets boring. Same with the boomers and gen X opinions and struggle to see any other point of view. As that is the general demographic, there are these piggy back threads that just make my eyes roll.

That being said a small price to pay for a generally amazing forum. Ive been on here since I was 23 when I bought my first in 2011. All the mechanical advise is top notch and some very helpful people. After 13 years suppose there are only so many things to cover and they have been covered numerous times so I don't frequent as much as I used to. I still enjoy catching up with what's going on and what people are getting up to and have been attending a lot more events recently.

Interesting to see the forum now moving into new directions, rather than a lot of brand new car threads that were in the 30-65k when I first joined its moved toward the lower side of breaking and saving cars for others to enjoy which is quite a nice direction because of the appreciation of the E85/6. Obviously there are still new car threads but the 2 seater appeal seems to be waining as of the last few years.

The Facebook groups are awful and there are so many of them. Full of really poor behaviour and although there's always the odd one that spoils it I really appreciate the dedicated forums rather than Facebook and Reddit.

I joined the original Z4UM in 2003 when I ordered my first Z. Very different demographic then, also about 90% worked in IT and all cars were new cars. All cars were under warranty as well so not a lot of DIY at the time.

Think my SatNav retrofit was the most daring activities to be done on a Z at the time in 2006

Only other place I’m on is the ducati community forum and been honest the banter and fun on a motorbike forum is another level from here, I think bikers and bmw owners are vastly different certainly the two forums are totally different in banter, even though it’s a ducati place it’s an x rated giggle that I could not attempt to bring here, I will say their is some good people here and certainly knowledgeable and helpful people on here but I certainly hold back on here as it’s just not somewhere that would appreciate my humour but that’s not important or relevent, it’s a good helpful place on here and if I was able I would help people back probably could only help people in a transport scenario but I would try help.

This is one of the reasons I enjoy the forum.
I help someone with something: they appreciate it and help the next person, and so on.

I find it fills in time while STMBO is watching Eastenders followed by Coronation Street (Like now) so it definitely has its good points :D
