so I want to get a couple of jobs done that were advised on last mot.
front lower suspension arm has slight play in a ball joint both.2.4.g.2

front lower suspension arm has slight play in a pin/bush both rear.2.4.g.2

am I better to supply parts and get my local indi to fit
can someone suggest what I should be ordering.
many thanks, also any idea of cost to fit.

I'd research and buy, then get indie to fit. Always the best way as you know more about what's going on the car and could even buy something better or well rated/reviewed.

Pretty sure the first one is the lollipops? Got mine from eBay I think, Meyle HD ones from a "reputed seller" lol. Not sure about the second advisory!

About an hour per arm. ZF lemforder make decent arms (did you know ZF stands for Zeppelin Fabrications? That's right they started out making Zeppelins)
They are about £90-110 depending on which eBay advert you look at.

Probably best to do lollipops at the same time. Not expensive.

£100 is a lot for alignment.

I'd check out what the aftermarket costs are for the bushes to buy.

Can't imagine them being £75.
Annoying thing is, I had the alignment done last year, but they say will need doing after the new bushes.
Am getting a couple of quotes
Wish I was more mechanically minded

They are correct in saying it will need re aligning.

I pay 75 for every adjustment, that’s quite an in depth session too where they will come and show me the figures, adjust a bit, come back to see me etc. £100 seems a little steep particularly if you aren’t going for custom figures and they are only going back to standard settings.

I haven’t driven them but the Meyle HD lollipop’s are very popular.

sorry to be a pain guys, but am trying to resolve the advisories listed above.
can anyone tell me or give me a link to exactly what parts I need to resolve the above.
thanks, sorry for my mechanical ineptitude.

Front ball joint and front rear bush? Isn't that the whole wishbone?

so assuming I need the pair at 139.00 plus jacking point cover that's 150 for parts and allowing for mot about 300 labour.
but there obviously loading the parts prices, which I await confirmation of.

Ah yeah I just priced up what he had quoted you for. I replaced a full arm at Mike's the other week on my e46 it was a right pain in the arse

cheers Jamie.
so assuming I understand it correctly, there loading the parts and should be a couple of hours work.
wish I lived closer to mike, at these prices it would be cheaper to drive to mike.

Yea it's a couple hours work for an independant to do 2 arms. On the e46 it was harder work but on z4 there's a lot more room so I'd attempt it myself

I’m going to go against popular opinion here but after I had the Meyle hd arms and bush fitted they were much worse than the BMW parts I had on before, even in their worn state. Personally I would avoid them. Maybe I had a fake or something who knows, they were from eBay and very cheap £200 for the full kit including ARB link.

Think I paid about 150 labour for the job.
