re roof problem

Ok so I have the dreaded red light. The roof is down at the moment. I have released the roof using the little red tab in the boot, but I am unable to lift it up any more than a few inches. I have pressed the latch in that sits between to two role over hoops so it is free at that point. But no joy. Have read through old posts saying it might be a broken wire etc. It is not easy to get to the micro switch to check that with the roof down. Bit stuck at the moment.
 
It sounds like pulling the red hoop isn't disengaging the By-pass valve to enable you free movement. Ultimately the motor and pump is going to have to come out, be serviced and preferably relocated to the boot.

Where abouts are you in the UK ?
