Re-mapping the 3.0i... who's done it?

As the title says, how many on here have re mapped their 3.0i and with what results?. ok ok i know we're not gonna make huge gains here but to me its about more than just power gains, its about smoothing the power delivery, ironing out any flat spots, better throttle response etc etc..... a skilled mapper can transform the feel of the car completely. I have a bmw specialist about 15 miles from where i live who i plan on calling at some point in the not too distant future to see whats what regarding mapping, if i get the slightest hint he does'nt know what he's doing i'll walk away however, just wanted to hear from others on here who've done it and with what results?..
 
Is the specialist in telford? there is always going to be the debate of mapping a n/a Car, some say it's good others bad. For me I would spend the money on a service and a tank of decent fuel. I've seen various claims of gains but never can trust what they say as all cars react differently to a map. Unless it's a live map done specific to your car and shows the before and after gains then I would spend on what I mentioned above.
 
Mapped my 3.0i
Massive difference it just pulls and pulls and pulls. It must be the K&N filter and new plugs that helped or was its the uprated injectors and a supercharger !!!!!

^^^^massive cheating^^^^^ It's no longer normally aspirated! :o
I got a 30% power increase from my last turbo charged car with a remap, it's just not going to happen with a normally aspirated engine though, just small increments.

I work on the basis that if nobody has done it on this forum, then it's not really going to be worth doing.

BMW's straight six engines have always been lauded for their smooth power delivery, so I can't really see there being any flat spots to remove.

If you are after a sharper throttle response, keep resetting the Adaptive Throttle (guides on here) or perhaps a spint-booster thing might be a better investment, although it's not something I'd buy myself.

People have done it, just many deem it not really financially viable. Lot of money for not a whole lot of gain.

Better off with advanced driving lessons to get the most out of what's already there.

Never a truer word said, hats off to you sir :thumbsup:

People get caught up in chasing the odd bhp here or there, yet very few have ever driven a car on the limit. I would go so far as to say if you are driving a car on the limit on UK roads then you probably shouldn't own a license.
