re jacking point question & greasy nuts!!!

I am coming back to the UK tomorrow so have taken the opportunity to take my 17 inch Daisy's off the car for a refurb. I used the middle jack point at the back to get some prop stands in and then two further jacks to get the front up. While it was up I noticed there is a sort of rectangle shape depression in the metal work behind the plastic under tray. Is this the middle jack point for the front.
Also when I took the wheels off. All the wheel nuts are covered in copper grease. I thought this was a no no when it comes to wheel nuts. What do you guys think?

If your car is a facelift model, then the recess in the undertray is a jacking point (Same cross member as the M's, the M has a proper jacking pad though). As for copper slip on the wheel nuts - there will be folks telling you tales of imminent wheel departure, over tightening etc, all I can say is I've been using it 30 odd years with no issues (And no seized wheel nuts either).

Stu.

Thanks for the reply. I'm not sure if its face lift. I don't think so. Its a 2003 2.5i auto. The other thing that surprised me is I have 8j wheels on all four corners. Thought these ran narrower wheels on the front than the back. Like my old MR2 used to be.

Yours is a pre facelift model

Only facelift sport and M cars had staggered setup as standard. Pre facelift and 3.0si SE were 17" rims standard, square set up
