alex85, you need to contact one of the Mod about this thread and for now this thread is locked.

Woah - Just seen this - I don't tend to get much of a chance to catch up on these threads so very sorry.

I will copy and paste what I have just written over at BMW Land as you have locked the post over here on the Z4 forum.

Hi, sorry, I don't visit the forums as much as I used to so I will head over to the Z4 forum now as well.

It's fair to say that a few of you mistrusted me somewhere along the line and approached Mia's boyfriend to alert him to the fact that someone was collecting money on her behalf. Not a problem anyhow as he contacted me to let me know, but allows me to give you some brief updates;

Firstly, I have a published address for sending any cheques, as I have had someone wanting to send a cheque. They should be made payable to;

Richard Williams

and sent to;

Mia Austin c/o Richard Williams
Clatterbridge Hospital Neurological Ward
Clatterbridge Road
Bebington
Wirral
CH63 4JY

I think I told you that following an email to all my business contacts, a local contractor came forward and offered to carry out the works to the Austin family home FOC - that is still going ahead with them working with architects finalising the plans and working the (slow) process to get planning permission. They are getting there though.

Following is a quote from the email;

"It was right at £100 a trip home in the private ambulance. However, with the great response from everyone and lots of other fundraising activities going on, the Austin family have been able to purchase a specialised car with which they are able to take Mia out of hospital on short journey's in her wheelchair. They got it a week ago, and it's been amazing for them already.

cheers for all your continued support"

So every little does help and it's people seeing the cause and feeling they can donate a little that this has been made possible.

Collected funds will be heading over via Paypal weekend of the 5th/6th June.

Cheers

Alex

Legitimate cause which has so many fundraising efforts going on and it has bypassed the original target by a long way, I have spoken with Rich (Mia's boyfriend) who was alerted to this post as he emailed me yesterday. He is aware of me, and this is no scam. Agree with the comments that only a sick, sick individual would attempt to make money off of the back of this.

I genuinely felt that the internet is a massive place and if a small proportion of those who read this donated £1 then we would be doing well. Turns out the response wasn't as I thought it would be, despite me regularly bumping the threads etc.

Even if you just lock this but I need people to be reassured that I am NOT trying to profit from this and in fact when the money is sent over I will be covering the paypal fees.

:headbang:

Sure - but there were multiple logins of your account on here between the concern posts and your reply today ...

Really? I find that hard to believe as I truly wouldn't have left these concern posts standing if I had logged in here and seen them.

I have nothing to hide so there genuinely must be some mistake. How else can I prove myself? It wouldn't have taken Sherlock Holmes to figure out who I was - my word is all I have to give you in this instance unfortunately.

Maybe setting up a charity in which people could use GiftAid would look a lot less suspect than just people paypal-ing:

Posted from my iPhone.

Will do that. Thanks. Will look into it with Mias fundraisers first. They may feel they are doing enough and I'd rather bow out at this point. It's been major stress having to defend myself on a couple of forums.

Alex, whether this is real or not, surely you would expect a few people thinking it a scam,..have you never received a scam e-mail, or read anything sounding at least vaguely similar to this ?

Ed Butlers advice looks good, that paypal account you have could be anyones. Not rocket science.

Indeed, and truly I don't blame people for feeling a little suspicious.

I won't copy and paste the message myself but for those of you on BMW Land forum, perhaps you could take a look at the other thread running there and confirm with those who aren't members (as you do need to be one to view) what the post says.

http://www.bmwland.co.uk/talker/viewtopic.php?p=914275#914275

Essentially it is one of the members who contacted him pasting the email he received back from him confirming I am indeed who I say I am and that it is legit and not a scam.

Of course I understand suspicion and I can only apologise for any inconvenience or offence caused in not replying to the posts in the locked thread sooner - I genuinely did not know they were there.

Cheers and best wishes,
Alex

To be honest (and I will be polite) this is getting on my nerves. If someone asks people to give money to a charity...that is fine. If people give? that is fine. If people decline? That is fine. What I do not expect is the equivalent of someone on the street with a charity box chasing me down the road if I decline, and then go on and on about it ad nauseam.

Not wishing to appear uncharitable, so best wishes to him/her, but can we have our Z4 site back please?

Not being funny, but the last post on this was 5am... you're the one who just bumped it!

Lockit, load it and fire it out the window. I never even open this type of email, the delete button is so close I never miss....
