rattly squeak from roof when up

Hi guys,

Just got my 2.5i mSport Z4 (Nov 2006 reg). It has much harder suspension than my previous 2004 2.5i SE, and I've noticed a really irritating squeaky-rattly type noise that happens when going over rough road surfaces. It's coming from where the roof pillar meets the body work at the back of the driver's window. Anyone know exactly what is causing this, and how to stop it? Any input gratefully received

It had happened to me also. Applying silicon rubber spray it stopped.

X2 I use the BMW one available from the $tealers and it doesn't leave any lingering smells.

Same noise here, what parts of car are you putting the silicone on
My noise is also on top near driver side :thumbsdown:

Yes, all cars can make noises----The dang things can drive you nuts, I just turn up the radio, but that is not good when you are looking for that quiet ride home

After much research---I have read that Krytox a Dupont chemical, is great to lube all your rubber seals! I ordered mine from
a VW Stealler and will have it Tuesday :!: There are many other products to use, BMW
Gummi Pflege if you ca find it, similar Worths make a product, einszett 1Z , Autosol Gummi-Pflege!

The Krytox material comes in a liquid and grease formulatios------Based on what I have read, Krytox was designed to rid such noises

The dupont Krytox works like a champ!!!!!!!

I have heard others on this forum say they have a squeak sound noise near the driver side window, I had same irritating noise, Well it was was a B**** to find, but with patience I found it!

Purchased the spray type from Audi/Volkswagen, the great thing about the spray is you can spray it in the air vents, cup holders, around dash where other plastic parts join!! Did all my rubber trim on doors and top of roof and in the roof moving parts----- I now have a quiet like new, 03 ZED, no kidding!

Now I need to get new 18" non RFT and replace with conventional type, probably go for the Falcons----That should make the ride even more smooth!
