Rattling/Shaking Seat

My passenger side seat started shaking and rattling not too long ago. The whole seat along with the headrest make such a racket when I drive. I've moved the backrest towards the front more to prevent it from banging against the back and have even tried reaching my arm over to hold the seat down! Drives me nuts! I'm guessing there is a loose screw somewhere that I could probably adjust. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Just a case of checking the seat and its mountings. Check underneatch with someone moving the seat and see if you can see what it is. May even be a coin from someones pocket that is ratlling around in the seat base. Have you decided on the wheels yet?

I had a similar problem fixed under BWM used warranty a year or so back.

It turned out to be the parts inside the upright back of the seat that the headrest posts slot into. They had either come loose, or grommets that hold the posts snug were letting the headrest bump around. Once that started the whole back of the seat would start to vibrate. There was a disctinct knocking sound as the posts hit their sleeves inside the chair.

They replaced the sockets in the seat and it went away. Might not be your problem but it could be worth checking to see if the headrests have any movement.

AlanJ,

The wheels that I went with were backordered. They should be receiving them in the warehouse in about a week. I've been waiting for them close to a month already! You gotta stay tuned to see which wheels I decided on! :P
