rattling noise

I’ve spent hours trying to work out where the rattling noise is coming from in the passenger side of the car. I've looked on the site to all the problems and solutions found. Due to this I've tightened all the screws in the cabin, foot well, cup holders, glove box, brace struts in engine bay. Stuck Velcro on any rubbing parts I thought were causing it. Then by complete stroke of luck, while cleaning the inside of my windows I banged my head on the rear view mirror. Surprise suprise it turns out to be the mirror. I’ve tried driving while having my finger on the mirror and it stops! I think it’s down to the glass being slightly loose in the holder. However not loose enough to be visible when driving. Has any one had the same problem? Has anyone got any suggestions on how I can stop this? Don’t really want to use a sealant.

what about a few dabs of superglue around the edges of the glass ie between the glass and the plastic. Alternatively a little clear silicon sealer introduced between the class and the plastic framework?
 
Use 'Blue Tack' which can be removed if necessary. Has cured many annoying rattles in vehicles I have had in the past.
