Hey all,
I did several searches for rattling steering wheel, knocking in steering wheel, etc etc and didn't find much.
I just got my 2003 roadster a week ago today, and ever since day one (of course it didn't do it during my two test drives!!!) the steering wheel almost sounds like something is just bouncing around in there. And there's a knocking noise as I pass the wheel from the center. For instance, when my wheel is perfectly straight and I move it from side to side, it kind of makes a knocking sound. It may be something loose around the gauges I suppose too. Also when I hit bumps/go down a bumpy road it all knocks and rattles a lot. It is sooooo annoying and just driving me up the wall! We plan on finding some DIY's on removing the dash area around there (sorry for my lack of proper description) and checking it out, but does anyone have any idea of what it could be???
I have a very car handy boyfriend thank goodness. This week we already have replacing the soft top motor (WOW THANKS SHIPKILLER!) and installing an aux input on the list. Now the knocking around the steering wheel. Then BMW just informed me I need to replace my front brakes soon. Oh geeze...... Hopefully after I do all this, I will be done for at least a while. Good thing this money sucker is worth it!
Thanks!
Megan
