Rattles & Squeaks

Ok, I know it's a roadster and some rattles & squeaks are to be expected but what I was wondering is if anyone had any tips on how to reduce/eliminate the rattle that seems to emimate from the centre catch when the roof is down, I did try a bit of silicon grease a while back and it cured it for a time but also got grease on the inside of the hood so I'm not keen on doing that again, I was thinking of some self-amalagamating tape round the catch, any better ideas out there.

Cheers. :tumbleweed:

From memory this is a know problem on pre facelift models seem to recall something about putting some sort or tape on part of the catch.

Somebody will no doubt post soon to confirm and how to do.

When you say centre catch, is this on the softtop, windscreen or on the centre consoley bit at the top between the seats (i.e. above the storage bit for the cd changer)? :?

If the latter, mine squeaks too. I know that is of no help whatsoever- apologies!

I recently had a rattle simular to yours that the dealership isolated to the rear view mirror. He replaced it under warranty. Perhaps you can hold the mirror while driving to see if it helps.

I removed some of the catch on the centre bit of the roof - you could see some of the protection on the metal had worn right through and was metal rubbing on metal... few screws and part of the catch that wasn't doing anything was off. No more squeak/rattle :D

Got any pics, I cant quite picture what you mean, I'm no where near the car at the moment.
