Randomly lose all Electriconics

sorry to open an old topic, just I'm having similar problems, getting a dashboard of lights which disappear before i get a chance to look down, and radio sometimes is fine and others drops volume or other times goes off completely. tonight on way home radio went off but still appeared to change station but no sound then after few mins head unit closed and opened again and all was fine. it'll be after christmas before i get a chance to get to a dealer to see what codes she's throwing up so until then does anyone have any idea what might be the cause? bad earth?

I've been having exactly the same uses as here...plus at random times whilst idling at a standstill, turning the steering wheel causes power steering to fail and all dash lights to come on. Stop turning the wheel and all back to normal. Turn the wheel it happens again etc.

Diagnostics showed alternator failing. Being rebuilt tomorrow by my mechanic.

Intermittent failures of this catastrophic nature usually point to either a battery on its way out OR as this post got resolved – oxidised battery terminals and clips.

I would start by cleaning the battery terminals and clips up using emery paper and contact cleaner and see how this works out. At some stage get the batter checked. Then move on with your diagnostics from there…

An alternative to what jamiez says above... Could be a kbus shottage.. As i found out recently... When the kbus goes down it will take out most of the things connected to it, radio, wipers interior lights etc.

Could be something like a dension or gaptec which can trigger it.
