{bobblehatmode} I am a bit of a fan of rallying you could say.
For the cost of doing Rally GB, you can go and do Rally Spain. Really. You can. If you don't believe me, go and look at RallyTravel on the web.
I've done GB quite a few times as I grew up in Wales. It started out great, go anywhere, no cost. Then the ticketing started and "penning in" of spectators. Half the fun for us then was infiltrating the stages using Land Rovers or yomping for some distance. That can still be done but it's bloody hard work. I've since paid to get into stages and not been able to stand up because of the mud, wind and rain and not been able to see anything because of the fog too. Raify is right, I was clocked at a crazy and wreckless 84mph on an empty M4 at 8am on a Sunday morning and still have the 3 points on my licence to prove it. It is dripping with the 5-0 looking to catch speeders. Moving between stages is remarkably difficult. If you do go, pick a stage and stay at it for both run throughs, just go find different places to stand.
I've since gone to Rally Spain in Salou with Rally Travel and it was the best holiday I've ever had. I did the lazy bit and took the escorted gold tour with my OH. It was AMAZING to see the difference, free entry to the stages, the RT team negotiated entry right into the stages, they told you all the best places for viewing, they organised driver interviews, after rally parties, the hotel was superb, they got us into the team areas etc etc... I was stood next to Loeb at the club bar at the after rally party ordering drinks..!! I bumped into Henning Solberg down the town and had a chat with him, it was amazing. My advice? Save your money, add next years to it and go to Spain on the gold tour with Rallytravel [/bobblehatmode].
PS: I'm just a very satisfied customer and not associated to RT. They are just SUPERB.
