Rain sensor integration

Hey guys,

I'm currently doing a project for further education, at the moment it's just a simple rain sensor.
But i was wondering if it's actually possible to fit a sensor circuit into the car wiring to trigger the roof motor to raise the roof if rain is detected?
I presume this would also void any warranty if there was any left on the car?

I see you joined the forum to get an answer for your further education project so not to put a damper on your whole idea... In theory yes as you would use the same trigger signal that the current rain sensor sends to the wipers however you would never be able to use your window washers again as the roof would raise everytime you tried to clean your windows so in the real world it a no goer from start. :headbang:
 
Good idea and you could get around the whole washers problem from 123billyb by fitting a relay to open circuit the trigger wire when the ign is on so not really a brick wall more of a pebble.

Not sure I would be using the washers with my roof down...... . However critical is where you place the sensor to trigger the roof motor and at what 'rain level' you set it to operate.

I did originally join the forum when i got my z4 but i've been lurking, i do plan on asking you guys many questions in the furture so keep your eyes peeled.
