rain and automatic transmission

Hello

I'm driving z4 2003 2.5i,

Yesterday i went to the mall and it started to rain... real heavy rain... while i was leaving the mall there was a small lake of water which caused by the rain, so i thought i'll go easy and will pass it, its not the 1st time anyway to swim with my babe :)

i went in then i found it raining more and more so i decided to go inside the mall parking again ... once i went inside the parking (took me 3 mins max) i found the indicator for the Automatic transmission appearing :(

the car only going on the 4th gear and no reverse!!! so i left it there and went back home .. i didn't drive it till now!!

the question ... is it the chipset !! or what could it be? and if i left it for couple of days to get dry it will work?

Electrics and water don't mix - not sure where you are from but the tropical storm that hit Sharjah (UAE) last night has brought many vehicles to a standstill. Drying out is one option but water in sensitive circuits causing electrical shorts and small voltage variations can damage these circuits beyond repair. Perhaps best to get a diagnostic check done by the dealer or an indie with the necessary equipment.

:) in dubai mall ... i'll send it to check at jano if you know the garage .. or if you can recommend other not so expensive garage?
 
well .. just a quick update ... i went today and gave it a try before calling the service .. it worked fine :)
i guess it just wanted to be dry :thumbsup:

Good news! Dubai Mall - would have been interesting if the tank had burst, sharks surfing down Sheikh Zayed Road....! :rofl:
