ragtop question

this may seem like a silly question, but hey ho i will ask anyway

if you park on a pay and display car park and leave the roof down, what do you do with your tickets? whats to stop people pinching them

while i'm asking stupid questions, is there any issues with insurance, leaving your top down when parking?

I asked this question to my insurance company when i had a eunos roadster, they stated that the car would be classed as 'not secured' and if stolen the insurance policy would not cover the loss.

PS the day i picked up my z4 i stopped at a country pub, left the roof down, came back and found not one, but two birds deposits on the drivers seat and handbrake - not sure if this was classed as good luck :?

Really don't see the need to leave a Z4 with the top down - takes 10 seconds to put it up, so why chance it?

Just to be different... I leave my roof down when parked in selected places. Never had a problem

I left it with the roof down at the Goodwood breakfast club...

There is a proximity alarm if someone reaches in

only other place I've left the roof down is on my drive :D

There were one or two out of 50-60 Z4's at Beaulieu that left their roof down all day, just cant see the point either.

I only tend to leave the roof down when the car is parked on the driveway and I can see it.

Never mind people pinching the parking pay and display tickets, its the road tax disc I've often wondered about!! :?

Yes there is, but you are meant to disable this when locking the car with the lid down.
Arm the car by pressing the alarm button, then press it again - notice the light on the rear view mirror will stay on constant and then go off - proximity sensor disabled!

so what is the point of it then :?

Not fair - Knowing Taz was a fellow coupe driver, i was looking forward to the simple question why? :D :poke:

 agreed, not to mention the chances of some jealous c**t walking past and spitting into your car. Seen it happen to a ferrari in town the other day :o

I often leave my car with the roof down on my driveway, work, gym or if i pop into Tesco's. Mainly as i am too lazy to close it.. or sometimes i turn off the car and then remember.. so just leave it open

Unless I am going to be gone for a long time or the area looks remotely ropey i would close it.

The center box locks, and if you stick you hand in and try to open the doors they will not open (as my sister tried once - which then triggered the alarm)

I'm a bit OCD and often press the lock button on my fob two or three times as I walk away from the car. Are you telling me that in doing so I have been disabling part of the alarm system !
