Rag top to Tin top

Well, what can I say, other than "WOW.. I absolutely love it" What a difference from the old 3.0SE convertible.

The sound of the new engine in the SI is not quite as loud and intrusive as the old. Its more of a hollow rasp than the drone of the old one. Its somewhat quieter aswell but not sure if thats the fact Ive got a proper roof on it now. :poke:

The feel of the car is very different. Alot stiffer and keener to turn in, you can really notice that this car has less flex and is more poised IMO.

The interior really does set the car off. Looks so much better in the flesh. The yellow is not too bright, more of a mustard colour. Looks fantastic. Everyone who sees it comments "love the interior, never seen one like that before" :D

MPG is alot better aswell. On the trip down to pick up the car I reset the MPG on the old car and averaged 26.1. Reset the new one as I drove out of the car park and averaged 32.7 MPG on the way back, mostly about 80MPH.

I love everything about it, just sat looking at it now out of the office window brings a huge smile to my face and still cant actually believe its mine!!

I fitted a spare set of black grilles off Bunnyjoyriders 'M' over the weekend which look alot more agressive than the standard silver ones. Im contemplating having the originals sprayed gloss black, both the chrome outer bit and the silver fins... not too sure whether that will look to much.?.

Just one slight problem with the car is on both the drivers and passengers door glass there are fine vertical scratches as if something has been caught in the seals whilst operating the windows. Salesman and BMW said to take it to my local BMW dealer, get the glass replaced and get them to bill them. He has sent me an email confriming this so cant say fairer than that.. Ill make sure they check the seals and clean or replace them as required aswell.

Oh and Ive just ordered a new stubby off ebay so looking forward to that coming.

glad you like it mate, i was thinking at getting a roadster to save a bit of cash, but i don't think i'll bother after reading your post! i do love my coupe, got my 108's on now :)

Noooo.. dont do it. Ive found that although im paying more for this car a month im actually really no worse off as the insurance is alot cheaper, like 50% cheaper than the convertible and the MPG is better too... happy days :D

Just noticed in your signature pic you got the wheels.. Looks alot better mate  Hope you are pleased with them!

Another thing, I have noticed how much this one rides better than the roadster. Its had 4 new run flats but the ride is much more forgiving and doesnt seem to crash around at all and the uneven or damaged road surfaces dont vibrate through the car like the old one. Does the coupe have revised suspension?

Also, there is not one squeak or rattle. Feels like this car is machined out of a solid piece of granite. Maybe its to do with the fact the roadster had so much flex in the body??? Build quality seems on a completely different level!

You made my mind up mate keeping the coupe haha it's the insurance ( for a 22 yr old) that will be its saving grace, glad your chuffed with it!
