Rag top marks

Hi, only having bought my 05 Z4 3 weeks ago and never having owned a rag top before I noticed some gray marks in different place on it.
would anyone know how to remove them please.
When the top is wet they're not visible.I cant understand what they are HELP PLEASE :( !!!

They're probably rub marks where the mechanism has rubbed the cloth over time, my e85 had them. I just cleaned and protected the top with autoglym products designed to do this and it made them less noticeable.

A picture might help us if its not that...

I have the same issue on my car. They are "folding marks" most probably. I had the car professionally detailed last summer but they are still there. However, I did not like the job they did on my car so I believe there should be some way to remove the marks. If anyone has any idea on how to remove those marks I would like to hear it. I found one product called the renovo reviver but I am afraid to try it on her.

I had these on my roof. They do seem to be where the roof folds/rubs. I used renovo and it made a huge difference, but if you look closely you can still see them, as the fabric is ever so slightly polished. Don't be afraid of the renovo though... it made my roof look fantastic. Just make sure you follow the instructions.

I had similar marks on my top, and although they didn't go completely, they were much less visible after washing and protecting with Raggtopp (which is also what the soft top manufacturers recommend you use to maintain the top).

Hi all, I RENOVOED my rag top this weekend and with a little care the end result was fantastic. once dry I waterproofed it. The only advice that I can give is when you put the renove on it would be better if 2 people worked from either side as it drys quickly and if your not careful you will leave aline in the middle from where you started from. Really good product.

I'm using 303 Convertible Top Cleaner and their High Tech Fabric Guard on the roff this weekend...

I am also happy with the results from 303 products. I cannot offer a comparison to other products, as it is the first thing I tried and had no reason to try anything else, it worked so well.

The fabric guard also works great on non-waterproof outerwear clothing where one might have typically tried Scotchguard. Not sure about repelling dirt, but repels water like no one's business. Besides the water repellency, it's impossible to tell if it's been applied.

I have just done my grey hood, used Autoglym cleaner and proofer, mine had black folding marks and they have all come out....

I got them as well. They have now rubbed so much that they are almost thru the cloth. So, I thought about the problem and was wondering what you guys think about this idea. Take the part that rubs and cut away 6-10mm. Have it professionally done, and of course re-painted. Replace the rubber and replace on the car. I think this would give enough room for the top to fold down without rubbing.

Weird thing is that I was told by the Bodyshop that did some work on the front end of mine that they use black boot polish on black soft tops to remove mechanism induced marks. Not tried it myself, but there you go...

I also Renovo'd mine and can still see the marks reasonably easily. So, at this point, I am living with it but I may try the boot polish and if I do, I'll post some before and after shots!
