Rag Top cleaning advice/ products

Hi Guys,
I know this has been covered in many posts after doing a search, however of late there seem to be many different products that are apparently rated as the best,
With products from AG, Renovo, Raggtop and BMW mentioned.

I have had the car nearly 12 months and have not cleaned the roof with any specific products other than water and suds, over the last few months because the roof had been dropped a fair bit I am noticing that white crease marks are forming and the black is fading a little, so I want to know what product combination is best to 1) wash it properly 2) restore the colour and banish the white marks as much as possible? 3) Where is best to buy the products from?

I am aware that the first layer is designed to let water through but have seen certain products mentioned make the water bead off (not sure from the posts if all the water beads or just some) so am curious to make sure I dont use something that will / could damage the hood or alter it's characteristics in terms of how it works so anything for vinyl roofs is obviously out of the question!

Im' also aware that some AG products seem to require parts to masked whereas renovo doesnt??

And how much of the product should be used / how often?

Any advice is much appreciated

I've always used RaggTopp cleaner and protectant. My 10 year old Z4 still looks like the day I got it.

The only product that will remove the white marks is Renovo restorer. It's like a black paint that restores the original colour of your roof. You have to clean the roof before applying.

The AG stuff is very good, and comes at a good price. There are different AG products for vinyl roof or mohair. Make sure you get the mohair one. It has a protector spray that is a water repellent, i.e. not a sealant or waterproofer, merely a repellent. Water will bead off the roof, but in heavy rain, the water will still get through. Plenty forum members have used it, and it does a good job

Used the AG cleaner on mine yesterday. Need to apply the protector spray now. Might try the Renovo stuff next time.

the autoglym stuff is great, didnt know about the two different products tho.... hope i used the right one!

Renovo doesn't work for my grey roof though... :poke: :poke:

But it is good stuff...

I'm using 303 products on mine.

You didn't see the grey roof that was blacked out by Renovo then :poke:

Worked a treat, if you like black :)

Grey is the new Black....

I don't believe all this "once you go black...." rubbish... :P :P

Nothing worse and cheaper looking than a black roof on a light coloured car...

Here's a couple of pics of the roof in question(taken in the sun earlier so looks worse than it actually is) the lines are more silvery than white tbh

Having read yourpost I found this you tube video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=01_0a1tQY9k which is a renovo promo vid, they do all the products required themselves,so the next query I have is, is it best to use the renovo cleaner, reviver, then their protector, or use AG cleaner, renovo restorer and then the AG protector?

And does anyone know the best and cheapest supplier of the products, I can see them all on ebay but haven't got further than that .

Definitely go with the renovo cleaner, reviver, then their protector. You will surely not be disappointed. Trust me because I had the same problem.
