Radom one, any way to cancel indicator clicking?

So Im getting tired of the really loud clicking of the indicators (call me weird if y'all want :P ). They used to be controlled via a relay, which is why they used to make a clicking noise. AFAIK, the old fashioned magnetic relay days are long gone and a lot of cars nowadays just have effectively a speaker to make the noise so you dont leave them on all the time. Seeing as I ride a motorbike too, I am massively aware of indictors and when they are on and when they should be off. Does anyone know how the clicky noise is generated on the Z4 and if its possible to make it stop at all? :?
 
Can't be stopped afaik by any programming and I'm pretty sure audible indication is an MOT requirement

Check:
a. the driver’s ‘tell tale’ warning device for presence and operation
 
Yeah, might go "noise exploring" at the weekend and see if I can find the source of the noise and do a bit of wire snipping. Probably kill the whole indicator system, but if it only makes the clicking stop I'll just stick a switch on the line for MOT time. Thanks for the heads up on the MOT requirement tho... :thumbsup:
 
I've never looked for it but my guess is it's one of the functions of the sounder in the kick panel above your right shin.

Controls amongst other thins the PDC, the annoying Reverse 'bong' and iirc seatbelt warning
 
Sweeeeeeeeeeeeeet, would love to stop all the naff patronising noises :) If I want to kill myself by not putting my seatbelt on, thats my prerogative :lol:
 
I had to go out in the Zed and for the first time actually listened to the indicator. I think it more likely it's concealed behing the column colwling or instrument binnacle.

The sounder in the lower panel certainly has 2 leads into it. One does the horrible bong on reverse and the other is multi function including the PDC.
