Radio turns on, no sound though

Hi all

I'm new to the Z4, having picked one up today.

Its a 2.2 2004

It has nav and radio with the pop up display. The radio turns on, but no sound comes out. There are no steering wheel controls, so I can't mute it.
Any ideas please?

Do you have the higher spec system with an amp in the boot adjacent to the battery?

Okay. It has the amp in the boot

I’m willing to bet you will find water damage on the amp which has fried it

Pop it out for a look

I can see evidence of water ingress above the battery…

The bottom of the amp is white

You need a new amp

You need to sort the water ingress first, otherwise it’s £200-250 wasted

Most likely your light seals in the boot but check all options out

Also- if you have water in the boot you may also have it in the car… worth checking before it fries your airbag modules

Check floor under the carpet for dampness both sides!
