Radio sounds great, Cd & Aux not so much

Have noticed that compared to the FM radio, the CD player sounds pretty poor in comparison, with Aux being much the same, if not worse than the CD. A noticeable drop in volume using them, the bass and midrange are down too, almost like it's a different EQ setting. Really toppy sound, and not quality at all, unlike the radio which sounds really good.

As I've been driving mainly around hilly areas, the radio reception is sketchy at best, so really could do with a decent sound from the CD & Aux.
Car has the Business radio with the 10 speaker package, but not DSP. Try as I might, I can't see a menu to access any sort of equaliser, so I'm guessing they are pre set, and it's not user adjustable, other than the treble and bass settings on the radio itself. I found the Aux level in the menu, which is already at the highest setting.

Does anyone know of a way to get the CD & Aux to sound as good as the radio?

Gratuitous photo just because....

the AUX in my car sounds perfect... just like CD quality really.... I'm guessing its a poor cable quality or badly routed?

Yes, that sounds like the same issue. Also feel the CD is lacking bass and punch too, compared to the FM radio :?
Car was originally supplied with Aux, so BMW install, rather than aftermarket.

a slightly quieter aux seems to be a "feature" of these stereos..however your cd quality should be as good as the radio

the aux issues seem variable ...mine sounds absolutely fine, not lacking in bass or owt just not quite as loud as it is with cd/radio but will still reach a pretty high volume level when turned up, I do have 10 speaker dsp though so that helps...if using a phone for aux then the poweramp app (£2.49ish) can help boost it too...usually get a 14 day free trial on android so worth giving that a try
