radio replacement

decided to replace the radio with a aftermarket one.
can anyone give me a basic walk through about how to do this and what facia i need to use.

Get a pioneer avic dab bt sysyem, you will then have, maps, dab, phone connectivity with streaming and the option of reverse cameras and digital TV. I did this in my 3.0 without idrive and it was great. I also installed an underseat active base and upgraded a couple of the speakers. Was a great mod. Not sure id like a car without DAB now.

Was a single din with pop out, Required facia, DAB antenna had to be routed up to the windscreen, mic positioned near driver, i had to by a small wiring loom for the bmw that just bridges the head unit to the original head units wiring (thats just plug and play) but all worked well..the new ones have car apple play and androind mirror link so you get the smart phone functions like spotify and whatssapp on your screen....

You can spend as much as you like....

The units are not car specific, just require the correct loom and fascia

How would you know if you had the correct loom and fascia ?

The looms and facsia are car specific..you order them from who ever your supplier of the head unit is.. (if its new)

Just kidding I’m considering swapping out the business radio out for something similar

If I disconnect the radio to fit a parrot hands free connection will i cause any problems when pluging it back in does it lose any codes etc.

Ive done this with a few cars and never had an issue............

Any images of the single din with the pop out screen on an e89 z4 love to see how it looks. Lets be honest its all about aesthetics and usability

I fitted this Sony unit a while back but I didn't think it sounded any better than the BMW Profesional unit and I lost all steering wheel functions. I could have bought another loom to get the steering wheel functions operational again but the fact the head unit didn't sound any better made me put the original back in. To be fair though I didn's spend much on it. Think it was £60. Only had it in for a few days but it looked smart. Deliberately got one with an orange dimable display so it would match the other instruments.20171109_144015.jpg20171109_152709.jpg20171109_144020.jpg20171109_144111.jpg

That wouldnt work for me, couldnt do it l. It wouldnt match the aesthetics to the bmw id cry. Maybe if it had a no controls and just a flip out touch screen running android or apple car play id consider it otherwise il just deal with not being able to change the songs with the steering wheel
