Hello, I am new to the board. Just bought a 2003 Z4 2.5 with only 24000 miles one owner. It has the buisine cd in it with six disc changer. Car is Maltive blue with beige leather interior and wood grain dash. Driving home right after I bought it the radio started cutting off and on. If I cut it off it would cut back on and then off and would continue this cycle I noticed if I changed the radio to AM it worked fine and I could play CD's. With it on fm and trying to play a cd it stilll cut off and on. Does anyone have an idea as to what this might be and if it can be fixed?

Maybe you have a loose plug on the back of the headunit? Maybe worth taking off the lower panel and putting your hand up the rear and have a poke about 
Lower panel is under the heater controls and above the seat/tyre/roof/ashtray switches

The front face plate of the head unit may have water ingress from maybe a roof down rain moment in the past!
I purchased a faulty head unit a few years ago that was a black (MP3 compatible unit) that some of the buttons and functions didn't work! After stripping the fascia I found it had water ingress! I refitted my grey fascia to the black head main unit and it was totally fine...
Maybe it has water ingress??
I checked the wiring the best I could. Since it works fine on AM I ruled that out. Also I don't think it has traffic announcements on it since it don't have GPS. I will take the face plate off but since I just bought the car I don't have the code to reset it. I will call BMW and see if they will give it to me and then try that. Thanks a lot.

After fooling around with the radio I changed the radio station and it works fine. As for as I can tell it only does it on 93.7 fm which is weird.I can let it scan and and when it gets to 93.7 FM it shuts off and on.
I just rode around in it for about an hour and the radio is fine until I set it to that station.
