Radio/cd player went nuts

The other day I was out driving then stopped the car to pick someone up, and as usual I had some music on from my ipod, when I turned the ignition off it kept playing. Okey I thought, ill turn it off by pushing the button. That did not help either, did try a couple of times. Then I started the car and switched it off agian. That did the trick. Does anyone know why or have experienced something similar?

Thanks

If you just turn the engine off, the radio continues to play. You have to turn the switch to the "0" position. If you have turned to "0" you can turn on the radio by pushing the button. Sounds like the shut-off sequence got out of whack (or your car really liked the song that was on! )

Unless it happens again, frequently, I wouldn't worry.

Hello all,

This is my first post, I bought myself a grey Z4 3.0i a couple of weeks ago. I'm sure I'll be looking here for help and how-to's a lot in the near future. Anyway, first major(ish) issue has come with the business radio much along the line of this topic.

Was driving home from work, stopped for some V-Power (first time I've ever bought some :D ), then headed towards home. The radio was on and after a little while and a crap song I went to change the station and nothing happened, fair enough perhaps I pressed a hold button or something. After much button pressing I soon realised that the radio wasn't responding to anything, balls, so I thought I'd just wait till I got home and it'd reset itself when i stopped the engine. Guess what, it didn't; key out, doors locked and the radios still playing! So got my spanner out and disconnected the negative cable from the battery, that stopped it - not sure what I would have done if it didn't :| Connected the cable back on and the radio stayed off. Haven't even tried to turn the ignition back on, just let it be. i'll be going out in a couple of hours to pick someone up so will have a see if all is well or not then.

I just wanted to find out if anyone else has experienced a similar problem? One thing to note is that the main knob has always been a bit loose in a physical respect, I wasn't sure if that was just the design or if a 'fiddler' had been at in the past

Many thanks, looking forward to some feedback.

James.

P.S. Here's a shameless pic:

Everything seems to be back to normal now thankfully, I'll post back if it occurs again.

The weird thing to note was that the radio screen responded to all the inputs such as changing the station and switching on and off to the clock display but the audio output just remained on and constant. Very odd.
