Radiator Expansion Tank Leak

Hi All,

I have a coolant leak from the expansion tank on the radiator. It gets really bad when the car is up to temp and the source is what looks like a very fine hole mid way up. I can see a very fine high pressure jet coming out of the tank.

I've never used a sealant in the coolant system before. the question i have is will this work to fix the issue? Appreciate you can only go on my description but given how fine the spray is the hole must be tiny.

Don’t use a sealant. Replace the tank, they are cheap as chips.

Sealant buggers up your cooling system.

why do they sell them? appreciate all the guff on the bottles say they are safe but why does it bugger them up?

I'd never use one though.

How is a jar of sealant supposed to work out whether a gap is a leak, or is there to allow the coolant to flow? :roll:
