Hey guys , was at lime rock this saturday aimlessly walking in the paddock area checking out the awesome 911s and 325is and 330is and other coll cars when I saw this: IMG_1639.jpg

These Guys were awsome! real fast cars and the most gorgeous cars on the track..These cars drew ALOT of attention from the crowds!
 
Also, one of the techs was great enough to take time out of his frantically busy schedule to talk about the car and even gave me their team hat. AWESOME. He told me the car is built using all bmw motorsport parts. The brakes, which loook UNREAL are 330i competition brakes. I have to get a set of these!
 
Were there two cars? The top photo shows orange wheels they are silver when racing????? Also would the 330i brakes fit without big changes, do you know? :? :?
 
I find it interesting that they are using a roadster instead of a coupe? Perhaps the roll cage is easier to fit in a roadster. Maybe it was a coupe and they used the sawsall mod. :roll:

Looks like two, car numbers 85 and 86.
 
It's also not an M...any idea of what they had in the way of engine performance mods?

Regardless...very cool!!!!
 
Also, in the last photo of car #85, what is that red thing on the bumper with the arrow pointing to it? :?

Its a tow eye, there should be a OEM one in your trunk, one in the front, one in the back. Race officals will be able to tow the car right away if necessary.
 
Nice shots Zeeya! I did not make it to Rolex 24 Hours at Daytona this year, but came across this picture and a few more. This was at practice runs. I was wondering about the coupe also.

Those are 2.5's judging by the headlights. I imagine they are chosen for competitive advantages within classes. Getting a 3.0 or M would bump them up into competition with much beefier cars as well.

Did you snag any interior shots? Good stuff!
 
Yes, there are two cars. 86 car fourth place , 85 car I think tenth.. They're both 2003 3.0 Z4s. From what the tech told me the 330 competition brakes would fit the z.. The brakes are bmw motorsport brakes.. Basically the car uses all z4 components. The rearend is z4 etc.. The tech also told me it's the M54 motor NOT the S54.. I could not believe how fast these cars were...I wish I could ask these guys more questions , but they were in the middle of prepping they're cars and didn't want to get in the way.. I did also see the Mcoupe z4. Which also was way cool!
