I'm sure the front splitter and rear wing make a huge difference to lateral grip. The OEM Z4 Coupe shape is, in essence, a conventional aerofoil shape which does create aerodynamic lift, whereas, the large wing in a high position, as on your car, makes the aerodynamic profile into an inverted wing, which will create down force. You only have to see a how all the space under the rear wing on a DTM car instantly fills with a massive amount of dust when those cars go off-line, to get a visual idea of the aero profile.
