RAC / AA Universal Spare Wheel fitted to E89?

Just curious if anyone has ever had the RAC / AA Universal Spare Wheel successfully fitted to your E89? I have a 2 litre with 19inch MSport Wheels.

Just thinking through the dreaded and inevitable flat-tyre scenario given I use non runflats.

Thanks in advance.

Sorry Tony, no idea. I’ve got the same wheels but have run flats on them. But I’m still dreading getting a flat 😢..good idea with the space saver in the boot though.👍🏻

Most flat tyres are the result of a nail or similar in the tread of the tyre resulting in a gradual loss of pressure, with the tyre monitoring system on the e89 it will let you know if there is a problem. Just get a small 12 volt tyre inflator and keep it in the boot with a can of tyre weld, 9 times out of 10 you will be able to re inflate the tyre (don’t remove the nail) and complete your journey and then get the tyre repaired or replaced, I’d also recommend breakdown cover and not just for a possible puncture.
Keep an eye on your tyres as well as it can be hard to see wear on the inner edges, it’s amazing how many MOT fails there are on the e89 with worn out tyres on the inner edges.

Flybobbie, is the spacesaver for 19 inch wheels? I may check one out, but am not sure what size spacesaver I would need? (Am also wondering if main wheel would also fit in boot after a puncture?)

Totally agree. The two main UK breakdown services(in the UK they’re the AA and RAC) usually try to fit a Universal Spare Wheel to keep you going, I’m just not sure whether they’d fit the 19 inch Z4 wheels esp with the brakes?

"Your Genuine BMW Space Saver Spare Wheel Kit - 5 Series E60 has now been dispatched and should be with you very shortly.
Item title: Genuine BMW Space Saver
Item number: 191941252200
Ocean Plymouth Parts Team"

This is what i bought £170 back in 2016.
Fits my 18 inch on 23i.

Used it once to continue driving to work whilst a new tyre was delivered due to a slow puncture on a worn tyre.
So never used in anger, so to speak.
To be honest i sometimes think i should just leave the spare at home, pop it in if on a long journey.
