It is a fabulous car and contrasts and compliments the BM perfectly. I am not a FWD fan but this thing is special. I really need someone I can trust to drive - then have a proper up tempo comparison. The sense of speed is so different in each car I have no idea which would actually be quicker down a twisty road. On a road suitable for high speed there is no comparison. The M would vanish.

Driving the Renault really seems to enhance the experience of driving the BM. Although I have to confess that I can drive the R26 so much more smoothy.

Not running out of puff at 90 makes a big difference though. Bloody hell the M is quick!

I'm a big fan of these. I still find it easier to jump into a FWD car and drive it to more of it's potential straight away: that's part of the appeal of a sorted hot hatch for me. But it's also what led me to aim for a RWD car: to get the same level of thrill/enjoyment/involvement from a hot hatch you had to drive like a loony, whereas my Z4 is more of a challenge and much more involving at legal speeds!

I agree something like the R26.R would leave me for dead on a twisty road, but even still I reckon I'd be having more fun (and for longer....) in something like my Z4 with RWD.
