I tried federal rsr's and r888's on my last car (VX220 ). The 888's were utterly amazing as a track day tyre in the dry but useless in the wet, they didn't last long either. The rsr's were 95% as good in the dry and capable in the wet. They were pretty good on the road and lasted as well. Another bonus with the rsr's is the price.

I'm putting some csl reps with goodyear f1's on my zed for everyday day use, the original alloys are getting a set of rsr's for track use.

Had 888's on my VX220 too, on the exige wheels from Thorney. best upgrade i did along with the coil overs. Loved that thing. I found them fine in the wet though, gotta take it easy though bit i had no issues.

500 isn't very much really to get top of the range performance tires, semi-slick or not. Maybe Nankang NS2R's at UTQG 120, they are also available at UTQG 180 which last longer but offer less performance. They're not really "semi-slicks" but rather really quick road tires.

I have not tried any of the above but Beedub has them on his supercharged Z4MR and rates them highly. I have Yokohama AD08s which are not really semi-slick as well but are awesome in dry weather but they cost a lot more than 500 pounds for a full set!

I miss both my VX's at times, the turbo was pushing out 262BHP so tremendous fun on a track day. It had RSR's on standard rear rims with astra GSI fronts (with spacers to get the offset right).

My Supercharged VX had compomotives fitted with 888's, nitron NTR suspension, 4 pot brakes, charge cooler, harnesses etc etc, it was a beast!

In the wet I still felt quick in on the RSR's, I felt like I was "coping" on the 888's. Worth baring in mind that RSR's are less than half the price of 888's as well. They come in at £77 per corner if I fit them to my BMW 103 style alloys.
