Sad to see this on the news. Apparently they are not effective in this 'digital age'....B*ll*cks ! Penny pinching more like ! Used to love watching them at Southport Flower Show when I was a kid. What will be next ? The Red Arrows ? :x

It is a massive shame, never had the chance to see them myself. I highly doubt the red arrows will go, too highly regarded here and abroad. In addition, the skills required from the active pilots is still relevant in their combat role

Tis a shame. :( Though to be honest I assumed they had been pulled years ago, having not heard much of them since I too saw them at the Southport flower show as a kid. Small world. :)

Never heard of them, so won't miss them.

I'm just guessing, but I imagine you were never a biker.

I saw them once - fantastic display!

But cost-cutting drives the modern world so they are no more - still opportunism is alive and well! Now how can I get one of those bikes?

You don't have to be biker to appreciate the White Helmets Team they gave displays all over the country and have often been on Television.
Sad to see them go they were always the highlight of many a county show.

I too used to watch these at the Southport Flower Show as a kid. They were on Blue Peter a couple of times as well. I seem to remember John Noakes riding with them. Happy days :)

I remember them now :slaphead: - Blue Peter, yes of course. They did a pyramid thingy and I think a dog was involved, didn't know they were called 'The White Helmets'.

I think they were the crew on the cover of a Humble Pie record, back in the vinyl days. It’s a shame, we just don’t get specialty acts like that anymore.

What a crazy thing to do! Knowing that military recruitment is at a low point you’d think that they’d be an effective tool to encourage people to join.

I imagine the cost of maintaining the bikes etc is minimal comparative to the Dead Sparrows or the Lancaster’s and Spitfires.

Sad day
