Quotes for bumper respray

A friend has offered me a Z4M bumper, but it has some minor damage and PDC holes that would need filling... I need a realistic quote for a repair and spray (colour change to black) as the M bumper is quite rare to find I suppose, so don't want to say no to him just yet.

I've seen someone on here had a respray for £130, but would a little repair and colour change up this by a lot?

** I could maybe rub it down myself, to reduce some labour costs...

Any advice welcomed. I'm looking for more decent spray shop, rather than full price bmw quotes. Also, how much are all the extra pieces that will be needed, doesn't come with grills etc... Will my kidney grills fit? I' sure I saw a post on here about someone fitting a Z4M bumper but can't find it on the search... yet :roll:

as a rule they should charge you about £150 per panel to repaint that's what I have found in our aria dents , scratches ,and cracked plastic will cost a little extra I would pop on to a local body shop and ask what it would cost to dothe bumper on your car it will give you an idea .
 
Paid £300 for front bumper and wing mirrors resprayed due to stone chips on my old Calibra at a body shop near me but the work was very very good great colour match and good finish sadly they have finally shut down after years :cry: would imagine the boss has retired.

Looking at your location it should be cheaper as i am paying London prices so as said above find a good bodyshop and do not go to cheap you get what you pay for
 
Not sure i agree with 'you get what you pay for'. There are some very back-street looking cheap places that will give you just as good a result as a more expensive shop.
Just depends on the sprayer and how hard the colour is to match.
 
Don't bother with one with PDC holes. Over time once filled I guarantee they will show through as the filler moves and shrinks. They say it won't but wait and see....

They are not that rare. I have a blue one (rear) in the garage looking for a good home :thumbsup:
 
generally you pay a bit more at the stealership but their work is "satisfaction guaranteed". with the lesser known names, you have to really do your research to make sure you pick a reputable shop

Can't say I agree with this. It may hold true in Canada but in the UK many of the dealers contract the work out anyway as they don't have bodyshops. 100% of insurance accident bodywork is done by specialists repairers in their own sprayshops and the best painters are without doubt the specialist independants. Trick is just to find on in your area based upon recommendation. I'd be looking for someone who handles top end cars or is used by the custom car guys. they demand 100% perfection.

Yep, best to do that.

Find someone who does full-respray work etc on expensive decent cars.

Ie, someone who can do a TVR cascade paint to satisfaction on a full car, is usually good enough to do a panel, but you will pay a sensible price for it.

£300 for a bumper sounds reasonable all said and done :)

Sure I asked this the other week but no one really knew :(

Was looking at a bumper with PDC holes, and room for a nice diffusor :D

I assume you mean rear with diffuser reference?
Rear is an easy retrofit and kit available to do it. All you need is a bumper with PDC holes (or a steady hand I guess )
Front is by means of a number plate with 4 corner sensors. Ugly but I'm sure effective.

Oooo, how much for the kit?

Seen a few rear bumpers with PDC holes going cheap, obviously in the wrong colours, but with a chop/spray/diffusor fitted it's all part and parcel anyway :)
