Quick run in a E63 M6 tomorrow

Leeds - you know where it is
Should be off out on the weekend cruise tomorrow, heading up to Bedale on the A1M then cutting round the back routes, Leyburn, on to Hawes, Buttertubs, down to Ribblehead Viaduct and back home. One of my mates, 24yro, just bought a M6 so he's coming along and I dare say we'll be tempted to swap rides for parts of the way. I've never driven a beast like that so will be taking a change of undies just in case! Can't believe he's bought one - it's his first car!! Likely paying through the nose for it but I suppose you only live once and opportunities like that don't come round that often.
Will report back tomorrow, hopefully with a few pics, albeit the weather doesn't look too clever.

Enjoy tomoz , but take it easy, weather forcast heavy rain and the roads up there will be full o wet leaves and sheep/cow shite,

Stevo if it is wet weather tomorrow and taking into consideration the cars you will be driving (jealous! ) then I think it may be wise to postpone your run until it is dry. I know this part of the world very well. I have a small place in Sedbusk near Hawes and was only up there a couple of weeks ago. The roads you are planning on driving are fabulous but after prolonged rain the amount of surface water can be very hazardous. My wife and I only go up there in the Zed if the weather is good otherwise it's the Freelander2. If you do go then have fun but please be careful and make sure to post some atmospheric photos .....Ribblehead Viaduct is a great spot !

Nice route Stevo , did the same only a few months back http://www.z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=80444
The road down from Hawes to Ingleton past the RH viaduct is a cracker :driving: the Buttertubs part i thought a little over hyped & dare i say disappointing :o there's better on my doorstep in Ribble/Bowland
Don't forget the pics & tuck in behind the V8 for a noise you won't forget in a while

Well, I feel like I've earned these couple of pints I'm having! Still went despite the weather. Got a few pics n vids but I'll make a better post later or tomorrow. I did manage a quick go in the M6 but the weather really didn't allow me to see what it could really do. The V10 sounds pretty good from the few fly-bys my mate did on the A1M but the MC really acquitted itself well against such revered competition. No bashes or scratches so all good in my book!

So, couple of photies for you all. Tell you what, it was really, really wet yesterday! We nearly had to swim home...and had to crawl through a few puddles.

Went out with this beast:

Got to Leyburn OK, weather looked like it was improving:

The M6 is completely blacked out and I reckon my mate might get a little bit of unwanted attention in that! It's on about 30k miles, lots of additional carbon - splitter, interior, rear spoiler.

After we got to Leyburn, we had to go up and over one of the Dales and we emerged the other side to see this:

But it really didn't improve after that.

We did our route pretty much as planned, although there were a few closed roads which was unsurprising given the amount of rain in the last few days. We eventually arrived at the Wensleydale Centre in Hawes - it was already getting gloomy/dark there at 2.45pm.

Last stop at Ribblehead viaduct - although this shot is looking the other/wrong way, it makes no odds - the viaduct was enveloped in mist and you couldn't see anything worth seeing!

I'd just driven the M6 to that spot from Hawes - not a very long run but the weather was just awful. Visibility was down to maybe 100 yds max so I'm thankful we got there and back in one piece to be honest. I'll have another go out in it when it's a little drier! Anyway, my pal obviously drove mine to that spot and his report: "Crickey, that is raw!". He also reported it being very analogue (a good thing) and more immediate responses than the E63M. Steering the M6 felt like skippering a boat in comparison! His rear arches also clash with the tyres on any serious compression, which mine doesn't, fortunately. Anyway, it's a little unfair to review the M6 in that weather so I might revisit this probably next year.

Fair appraisal that Andrew - Buttertubs Pass is not a great stretch to drive, but the views (when you can take your eyes off the road ) are stunning. Nice for a peaceful stop during the week :icecream:

Fine looking pair. 8)

Your right about attention. The first bored Rosser will tag that car  .

Yep, thanks S, no bother. I'll do the same when we take it out in the dry - most likely be next year now, mind. Keep yous all posted.

looked like a good run despite the weather! Shame you didn't get a dry run in the M6, the acceleration is truly phenomenal, but hopping in the the 4M after really makes you appreciate how good they are as a sports car in comparason!
