Quick questions RE: M Steering Wheel & Ashtray

Howdy all.

I'd just like to ask a few quick questions.

I have a 2004 Z4 2.5i with a standard steering wheel at the moment (no multi-function). I saw sideshowbob's thread regarding retro fitting an M multi-function wheel. However I noted that his doesn't come with tri-colour stitching but came with everything else (spokes and buttons). Can you get a "complete" M multi-function wheel with tri-colour stitching? If so, what is the part number?

And secondly - a very quick question - the ashtray in my Z4 springs open rather ferociously - literally jumps open with a bang. Is this normal? Or should there be some kind of dampening spring to slow the opening (as I've noted in other newer BMW's)?

You can get the complete wheel with tri-colour stitching but you're looking at circa £800 for that. You can usually pick up retrimmed or bare tri-coloured wheels on Ebay and source the other bits separately which always works out cheaper if you must have a tri-coloured wheel. Oh, did I mention I have a bare M-wheel (no coloured stitching) in the for sale section :rofl: :rofl:

As for the second question, mine opens pretty quick but seems dampened at the end of the travel i.e. it doesn't bang or crash.
 
Thanks playalistic. I saw your thread advertising the wheel for sale :D Ideally I would like the tri-colour stitching but I am tempted...
 
Yeah the tri-colour stitched wheel is the business no doubt, but they aren't getting any cheaper that's for sure. When I bought my M the steering wheel was in pretty poor nick so I sold it as-is and replaced it with the black MF wheel with a view to swapping out with a new tri-coloured wheel when one came up. Just bought the bare wheel alone from Ebay for £270 so that gives you an idea of the price when they do come up :o
 
In sideshowbob's thread, part number 32307906780 came with everything (multifunction buttons, spokes), save for the airbag and centre cap. Does anyone know if part number 32307836820 also comes with the same included kit?
