Quick question re connecting a battery tender

Hi All,

I don't know if anyone can shed any light on this for me, but I'll ask anyway and see what opinions come back.

I've just connected up the ctek comfort connect thingy under the bonnet of my car. Now before I did this I read about people (at least 1) extending the cables on the comfort connect so they could connect the positive to the jump start post and the negative to the negative post on the suspension turret.

While this is all well and good, I'm not sure why people are using the earth on the suspension turret when there is a dirty great earth not 6 inches away from the jump start post.
You can see in the pic how I've cabled mine up.

Am I missing something??? Is there a good reason why I shouldn't use the earth I have???

Thanks!!!

Steve

Earth is fine there. The positive connector is the more important one there, but any earth point will do for a CTEK.

Jump start will obviously want a really decent earth connector and the one on the suspension is easy to get to with a crocodile clip.

Excellent.

That was the answer I was hoping for!!

Many Thanks!

Using the engine bay points required me to pull apart the cables to split them and was quite a tight reach.

I ended up buying a comfort lead which is hard wired to the battery terminals in the boot for the occasional overnight boost, also bought the cigar adaptor charge lead which is quite handy in summer when I don't mind leaving the window slightly ajar.
