but can't say I'd be happy for someone to powder coat the whole wheel without splitting; just doesn't feel right. Got to affect the value of them too, surely?

How..? I would think the opposite.
Now mine are powder-coated, they will not corrode and will never need splitting again. They still look like they should, you wouldn't know unless you got very close

Hi,

Quick update, just ordered some Eagle F1's to be delivered to Wheel Genie. They are literally 30 mins from my house, so ideal tbh if i have problems and low cost to get there and back too.

Booked my car in for Chrome Shadow/Black effect on my 108's. They will split them for me as well and polish everything. £100 per wheel.

It's not a production line like most places, it will take them 2 days and they do 1 wheel at a time, and make sure each is complete.

They will also paint my calipers for me, for £50 for the lot. Hastle factor removed.

A bit more expensive than I wanted, but I will only live once and this will hopefully make me a happy chappy for the summer :)

Will post some pics when it's done, hopefully in a few weeks.

I really appreciate the support and guidance from you all. Over and Out lol.

God im fully committed now, did i click that payment button lol.

Steve

Steve,

You're doing the right thing splitting them to have them done  You cannot paint over a joint and expect it to stand the test ot time at the point it flexes..

I'm oooooh so peased with my mixed pro job smoked chrome stars and DIY polished lips so am sure your's will be great.

Good move to get them split. I think any wheel refurbisher that wants to do the job without splitting is just making excuses! Looking forward to pics when done as I am thinking of getting my 3 coupe wheels done in the chrome shadow effect when I change the original RFTs for some decent rubber.

Brother in law has sorted me out for £40 per wheel. Split and refurbished, I have yet to ask about a powder coating.

I may not even bother changing the wheels now!
