Quick query: where should the locking wheel nut key be?

Because I don't think my car has one :(

I only bought my Z4 last week and usually I'd check for the presence of the tool, but for some reason I forgot this time . I've checked all the usual bits: under the boot floor, glovebox, ashtray, door pockets, in beside the CD changer, etc.

Any tips for anywhere else it could be hiding?

I guess it's lost, so does anyone know how much BMW charge for a new one?

Cheers

were all zs fitted with lock nuts? Im away at the mo - my z is tuckd up in the airport car park- so cant check mine but didnt think it had them!

Thanks folks.

Mine definately has a locking nut on each wheel - looks like it needs a splined tool of sorts (perhaps 8-12 splines?).

I've got the toolpack (the one containing the towing eye, a screwdriver and a spanner, in a black wallet?) but there's no key in mine :(.

I know my car had a replacement rear alloy under warranty about 18 months ago so I guess the locking nut key's gone walkabout then. Dammit.

Anyone know the replacement cost before I contact my local dealer?

double check its not in the toolpack.. i was convinced mine wasn't but then it fell out after id given up.

otherwise, not sure.. can't be too much though.

Just went out to the work carpark to check - nope, completely emptied the pack and definately not there :(

I've got a set of aftermarket locking nuts I took off a previous car when I sold it. If I could get the local BMW to remove the current ones I could use these instead. But if not I'll need a new tool...
